Contented
Child was established by a mother to provide
a starting point for other parents who would like
their child to experience the joy of a treasure
basket but, do not have the time or knowledge to
create one for themselves.
The
idea of playing with a range of everyday objects
is not a new one. Treasure baskets are now recommended
in the government's 'Birth to Three Matters' framework.
However, in today's society where technology, competitiveness
and social pressure are such powerful forces, parents
can easily forget about, or may not be confident
enough, to go 'back to basics'. People often comment
about a child discarding a present and preferring
to play with the box it came in. But, rather than
following the child's interest, the box is frequently
taken away and the child is encouraged to play with
the discarded toy.
Having
gone 'back to basics' when her own baby was born,
the founder of Contented Child showed other
parents how wonderful it is to watch their own children
sit with a treasure basket. However, feeling they
had neither the time or resources to create one
themselves, parents (and indeed grandparents, aunts,
uncles and other relatives and friends) were frustrated
by the lack of opportunity to purchase a ready-made
treasure basket. Contented Child's treasure
baskets are designed to provide the child with a
broad range of items which stimulate all five senses
and offer a fantastic, fun, early-learning experience.
Contented
Child is a company dedicated to providing parents
and others with an accessible avenue to embrace
and reap the rewards of an effective treasure basket.
